David Jarrett

David Jarrett specializes in fine art (gallery work) and travel photography. His interest in photography started at the University of Colorado, where he was the chief photographer on the Coloradan yearbook during his last three years there. At that time, he concentrated on available light photography, scenics and architectual images. Upon graduation, Mr. Jarrett went into the investment business and dropped photography until the early 1980s, when he began doing occasional magazine work for Out World, In Touch, Mandate, Bllue Boy, HIM, Outing Travelouge, Playguy and other periodicals. Since 1990, Jarrett has devoted substantially more time to photography, with works exhibited in Provincetown, MA at Jones & Hobbs Gallery, (1990), Stellwagen Gallery (1991), and Gallery Matrix in a one-man exhibit (1992). Also in 1992, his images appeared in a group show in New York at the Ganymede Gallery. In addition, several of his images of Old San Juan appeared in the premier issue of Out, and several of Sydney were reproduced in Genre, both in 1992. Jarrett lives and works in New York City, South Beach and Provincetown.

An illustrated article on Jarrett's photography appeared in the spring 2008 Leslie/Lohman Gay art Foundation Archive quarterly journal entitled Blink of An Eye: the Photographic Art of David Jarrett [page 13].

One of his photographs is illustrated in Treasures of Gay Art from the Leslie/Lohman Gay Art Foundation, page 203.

Commercially, hundreds of his color images have been published worldwide -- in editorial and advertising -- marketed through Getty Images (formerly through Photonica). He was well represented in New York, the Great Metropolis, a large photo book on Manhattan; one full-page image of his appeared on the title sheet.

Mr. Jarrett is a volunteer at the Leslie/Lohman Gay Art Foundation Gallery in New York and is co-chairman of the advisory committee. He has written numerous articles on artists for the Archive journal and many other periodicals.
