Gifts to The Foundation Special thanks to the following: The
Rubin Family for the donation of over 100 drawings by Ron Rubin
(1932-2004). Ron was a regular participant in the Queer Men's Erotic
Art Workshop. The collection of drawings are being catalogued and some
of them will be featured in a future show. Pork (John Lovett, director). Pork was a collective who originally met at the LURE on Wednesday night to create art in an atmosphere free of the inhibitions of the standard art school environment (somewhat like the Leslie-Lohman Queer Men's Erotic Art Workshop). After the LURE closed Pork moved to the Eagle Bar where it existed until recently. A great deal of the work remained at the Eagle (not retrieved by the artists) and John, realizing that the work must be preserved called Leslie-Lohman. Of course, we said, yes. There are 70+ pieces. Much of it is severely damaged with tattered and splintered edges, scrapes, and many of the works on foamcore have duct tape all over. Even so there are some real gems. Some of the artists represented are Chuck Conner, Michael L. Scott, Peter Sparrow, Aner (Hamlet), Michael Mitchell, Richard Surmacz (Monster), Steven Broadway (Boyway), Varmin, Valentin, and Tonyboy.
