And celebrate we did: the art and life of Peter Flinsch.
More than 150 people attended the opening of Les Images his LLGAF retrospective exhibition on Sept. 12, 2006. The artist was toasted with a special cocktail, “The Green Boy,” with allusions to the mythic green man and complete “green” innocence.
Over 125 were present for the gala awards ceremony where Flinsch received the first Leslie/Lohman Gay Art Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award on September15 when the artist was again toasted and hailed. The members-only evening was catered by Philip Marie Restaurant. Charles W. Leslie kicked off the ceremony by introducing Peter Flinsch. Douglas Blair Turnbaugh told the audience of Flinsch’s rich creative life as it wound its way from Leipzig through Berlin, Paris, Vancouver, and Montreal. Peter Flinsch was then presented with the award designed by sculptor, Douglas Holtquist.
On both evenings Flinsch drew from live male models. At the opening Gregory Pinard was the model. And Doug Repetti modeled on the awards evening. The seventeen drawings from the sessions were purchased by Gary Eidsvold and donated to the Foundation.
Smooches, Peter.
