WITH THIS ISSUE we are trying something new which I hope will facilitate
a more frequent newsletter (quarterly) and reduce costs. We now realize
we jumped the gun on our all color issue - too expensive and large to
maintain at this point in our evolution. As membership and monetary
contributions increase we can return to the former format.
That brings up the issue of how you, our membership, can help
support LLGAF. We need -
An editor for this newsletter
A grant/stipend to produce this newsletter (perhaps to its former
glory?)
Monies to set aside for small grants to artists ($500 each)
An additional computer
Video equipment
Contribution towards placing an ad in a major magazine
Producer/director for our video festival
Producer/director for our Writers in Performance series
Sponsor/underwrite or curate a show
If you have time or money to donate toward any of these projects
please contact us at your convenience.
What's New
As the new season opens you will find that we have, once again,
been busy improving the gallery space.
- First, we have removed the desk on the right as you enter the
gallery clearing that part of the main room for improved wall space.
- Second, the wall between Gallery II and III has been removed
making it possible to circumnavigate the whole gallery without backtracking.
This makes the back gallery a larger and very desirable space.
- Third, we removed the display case in Gallery II and moved it
to the vestibule area. This helps regain the small wall space lost
by removing the wall between the two rooms.
- Fourth, track lighting has been installed in the corridor and
the wall on the right painted the same color as the gallery. Also
the floor was repainted a more compatible color. This makes it a
more inviting route to the gallery.
- Fifth, the rogues gallery has been improved by installing it
along the right side and placing it in date order.
- Sixth, the whole gallery has been repainted.
- Seventh, various signs and acknowledgments have been placed in
strategic places for visitors to peruse.
We want to thank Victor Trivero for his time and expertise. We owe him a huge debt of gratitude without him none of this would have been finished in such a timely and orderly fashion indeed, none of it would have been done at all. THANK YOU, VICTOR
